«The Refugees» (Die Flüchtlinge)

SCHWARZER MONTAG deals with «The Refugees» (Die Flüchtlinge) by two renown photographers: Christian Grund (photograph above left) and Mads Nissen (photograph above right). Both photographers were more or less at the same time in the same place - on tzhe premises of an abandoned freight station in Belgrade, Serbia, where they documented the fate of stranded refugees. By contrasting the two works, we believe that we can tell the viewer s story that sensitizes him to the image and which can also direct consciousness to the medium itself.

On Monday, May 8, 2017, from 6:30 pm we will be talking with the two photographers Christian Grund and Mads Nissen, a discussion and a talk about refugee photography. The moderation is led by Valentin Groebner. We would be pleased to invite you to the event to the Westflügel.

The newspaper «Die Flüchtlinge» (The Refugees) with a text by Valentin Groebner will be published at the SCHWARZER MONTAG event. The newspaper can be obtained from the 8th of May 2017 in the Westflügel or ordered here free of charge.
