KEYSTONE-photographer Peter Klaunzer has photographed 25 former Swiss contract children (Verdingkinder) in the course of the past one and a half years. In the pictures realized, the photographer sensibly approaches the moving destinies of those affected and thereby enables insight into the peoples’ personal circumstances. The erstwhile contract children have been greatly affected by their previous experiences. Still today, they suffer from the abuse, debasement and distress endured during their early years.

The exhibition by KEYSTONE and the Political Forum has been realized in close collaboration with the association Netzwerk-Verdingt. The association was founded in 2008 by former contract children. It enables the exchange of experience amongst persons concerned and further promotes research and reappraisal of the mostly inglorious personal history of many contract, institutionalized and foster children. In addition, Netzwerk-Verdingt renders assistance to those seeking advice and advocates the needs of those affected in public.

The Exhibition «Verdingkinder, Portraits by Peter Klaunzer»
will be shown at the Käfigturm | political forum in Bern from November 9, 2016 to June 30, 2017 (extended).
