Yesterday, the exhibition World Press Photo 14 has been inaugurated at the Folium in Sihlcity, Zurich, by Gary Knight, Jury Chair and founder of VII Photo Agency. With his inaugural address, Gary Knight provided the more than 400 guests with meaningful insight into the work of the jury.

“This image won because it was the image we could not stop looking at”, he justified the choice of the World Press Photo of the Year by John Stanmeyer for National Geographic. “When I look at the photographs on these walls I see works of imagination, courage and creativity. I see photography that seems to me liberated from the dogma of the past, photography that poses questions and doesn’t just make statements.”

For Jann Jenatsch, KEYSTONE’s CEO, too, World Press Photo 14 represents an evolving photojournalism: “Strikingly, this year’s winning images are subtlier and less blatant. We even believe this year’s edition will be one of the most successful in the history of the World Press Photo Awards.”

The exhibition World Press Photo 14 offers a platform for conversations and discoveries and demonstrates the essential and indispensable work of press photographers worldwide.
