After the Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur the exhibition «Jules Decrauzat»is shown at the  Photoforum PasquArt in Biel from January 31 to April 10, 2016.. An extensive selection of enlargements from approximately 1250 glass negatives from the KEYSTONE Archive, which were created between 1910 and 1925, are now on display in the home town of Switzerland’s first photo reporter – the vernissage will take place on January 30, 2016, at 5 p.m.

While the quality of the photographs was known, the circumstances under which they were taken were largely unclear. As a result of intense research work, the beginnings of photojournalism in Switzerland can be re-examined. The glass negatives are the work of Jules Decrauzat (1879-1960), who was born in Biel and most likely Switzerland’s first significant photojournalist. His snapshots from the early 20th century captured the zeitgeist of a society which stood on the threshold of modernism.

The exhibition is as a coproduction of the Fotostiftung Schweiz and the Photoforum PasquArt, in collaboration with KEYSTONE and the Echtzeit Verlag publishing house.
