GEGENLICHT. KURT BLUM - FOTOGRAFIEN

08.06.2012

Kurt Blum, who was born in Berne, belonged to the avant-garde of Swiss photography of the post-war years. Core themes from his body of work include the artists' portraits he took as of the late 1940ies, large series on topics such as dance and opera, as well as an intensive photographic and a filmic inquiry into the spheres of industry and work. Blum always thought of himself as an artist and made a point of having photography recognized as an independent medium of art.

The exposition "Gegenlicht. Kurt Blum - Fotografien" runs through till October 14, 2012, at the Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur. KEYSTONE is distributing the images of the Swiss Foundation of photography.
