KEYSTONE presents World Press Photo 12

In February 2012, the World Press Photo of the year 2011 will be elected by a prominent jury in Amsterdam. The world largest and most prestigious annual press photography contest of World Press Photo awards pictures from the categories news, sports, art and culture, nature and portraits. KEYSTONE presents the winning picture and other awarded press photos in an exhibition in May 2012 in the Papiersaal. Various side events complete the programme.

For the first time, the Swiss National Museum is now offering insight into the archives of the "Presse Diffusion Lausanne" and "Actualité Suisse Lausanne" press photography with photo reportages of everyday life in the 40s and 50s and an impressive image-based chronicle of the second half of the 20th century.

The exhibition is completed by the daily stream of images of KEYSTONE representing press photography nowadays. Every day, an endless number of photographers illustrate the events in Switzerland and worldwide. KEYSTONE choses 3500 news images daily, thereof 500 of Swiss production, and delivers them to the Swiss news media. This stream of images never stops. The journalistic and photographic standard is high as well as the work speed. The aim is to make images visible.
